The Flow Project was a creative recovery initiative funded by the Primary Health Network to
support flood-affected communities in Manning Point, Mitchells Island, and surrounding
areas. Led by Lisa Hort and supported by Mid Coast Council and the Lower Manning
Resilience Group, the project aimed to promote healing through community connection and
creative expression. A series of lantern-making workshops invited locals of all ages to come
together, fostering emotional recovery and unity. The project culminated in a community
event at Vic Shoesmith Reserve featuring a free BBQ, support services, live music, and a
lantern parade. The evening concluded with a screening of the award-winning film Up
Armidale Road at the Manning Point Bowling Club, celebrating resilience and strength. The
Flow Project offered holistic support through partnerships with emergency services, Lifeline,
and local health professionals, demonstrating how creativity and collaboration can empower
communities to heal and rebuild after crisis.
