In 2019, I was engaged by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council, alongside Katherine Appleby, to run workshops with older adults living with dementia. Using iPads, participants created
animations based on their favourite memories, which Katherine edited into a short film. The
final animation was projected onto a CBD building as part of ArtWalk, an annual event
attracting over 10,000 visitors. This project was part of “Four Seasons in One Dementia
Day,” a series of dementia-friendly community activities. ArtWalk also included a guided
walking tour tailored for people living with dementia. The initiative was featured on the
Dementia Australia website, showcasing how creative engagement can support inclusion
and raise awareness for those living with dementia.
